Design of Self-Venting Piping

How to size piping that is self-venting for vertical pipes, and side outlet applications.  

Use of this program is very simple. Just input the information about the self-venting flow application you are considering and click the "Calculate Self-venting Linesize" button. The program then calculates the minimum linesize required for self-venting flow to occur, and the smallest nominal pipesize which will accomodate this self-venting flow.

After the results are shown you can then use the "copy and paste" functions on your browser to transfer this information to other applications

To evaluate another condition, just change the parameters and click on the "Calculate Self-venting Linesize" button again.

It should be remembered that this calculation is based on water flow, and should only be used for fluids with viscosities close to 1 cp.

Use of this program is very simple. Just input the conditions about the gas you are considering and click the "Calculate Gas Density" button. The program calculates the density and specific for your application

After the results are shown you can then use the "copy and paste" functions on your browser to transfer this information to other applications

It should be remembered that this calculation is based on the ideal gas law with a correction denoted by the compressibility factor that you input. If your application is not approximated well using this method this program should not be use

On-Line Gas Friction Loss for any Pipe Size

This application determines the compressible gas pressure loss due to friction in any sized straight pipe or tube. This is useful when dealing with very small piping or tubing or for flow though small channels. This application is only applicable for straight pipes, and cannot accommodate losses due to fittings and valves (it does include inlet and outlet losses though). If standard sized piping is being used then the application above "On-line Compressible Flow Pressure Loss " should be used.
